Abstract
In this chapter, one invited talk and 11 articles are included dealing with the solution of linear systems and eigenvalue problems. These problems arise in many engineering and scientific areas, and the articles selected show applications in fields such as nuclear engineering, simulation of chemical plants, simulation of electronic circuits, quantum chemistry, structural mechanics, etc. Issues covered include, among others, algorithm modifications for particular architectures, use of parallel preconditioning techniques, direct and iterative linear solvers and eigensolvers. What follows is a general overview of the articles in this chapter.
