Abstract
Recent interest in large displays has led to the rapid development of cluster-based tiled display wall systems, which are comprised of many individual projectors arranged in an array, and driven by a cluster of PCs. In this paper we describe an interaction protocol and the essential synchronization mechanisms to support interactive 3D editing on cluster-based tiled display wall. In order to examine the feasibility of our approach, we have developed a parallel interaction library, named PIEL (Parallel Interactive Editing Library). By using the PIEL library, we can conveniently port rendering applications running on stand-along PC to cluster-based tiled display wall systems.
