Using Surface-Syntactic Parser and Deviation from Randomness

X-IOTA IR System Used for CLIPS Mono and Bilingual Experiments in CLEF 2004

Abstract

This document presents the experiments we performed for our CLEF 2004 participation. We have tested the use of surface-syntactic parsing to extract indexing terms. We have also studied the Deviation From Randomness weighting. For the bilingual part, we have experimented reinforcement query weighting using an association thesaurus.
