Abstract
There had been much less research activities and results in the field of method bases than in the area of data bases. In the first part of our paper the question will be raised how a high sophisticated method bank system can assist the enduser on his way from a problem to a solution. In the second part we will use this idealized system as a standard to evaluate existing systems, especially those used in management science. In the third part our own approach is presented. We'll use an example in market research. In our interactive system the selection of a special method is assisted by the computer. The structure of the user's problem and of his data are compared with the premises of the methods available in the method bank. Decision tables are used to propose an algorithm for solution. Moreover the system helps the enduser to interprete the results.
