Abstract
Due to technological advances in, e. g. DNA and protein research, there is a sharp increase in the amount of data generated by molecular biology research. In turn this poses a set of new problems for computer science research. These problems are collectively known as Bioinformatics. In this talk, I will focus on two areas in this new field, viz., databases and data mining.
