Abstract
Most of the research in database triggers focused on the centralised active database systems. Because of the requirements from electronic commerce and Web applications, there are growing demands for inter-system level’s triggers between different information sources. As a result, systems can interact with each other and react on the events happening on others. This paper proposes the concept of inter-system triggering, and discusses our implementation efforts. It also describes our proposed architecture, namely Advanced Triggering Database System (ATDS), for implementing inter-system triggers. Finally an application example of our preliminary prototype is presented.
