Abstract

A measurement of the ski-jump distance using the computer programme JumpIt is presented. The technique we use is based mainly on the recording of consecutive images in the computer memory in real-time. We propose an algorithm based on off-line recursive filtering, and fuzzy pattern comparison of the bit mask of two sets of windows: the learning one and the testing one. The result of this comparison should give us the point of landing of the ski jumper. The length is calculated from the calibrated ski jumping hill.
