Abstract

Sets of traces [Maz1] have been proven to be an elegant way to denote the behaviour of a given elementary net (en) system maintaining the non-sequential nature of concurrency and causality [Aal/Roz, Maz1, Maz2]. This paper deals with the converse: can we construct one (or more) en systems with a behaviour given by a certain set of traces. A criterion is developed which allows to decide whether en systems with a given trace behaviour exist. If a given set of traces can be represented by en systems then a procedure for the generation of all these en systems is given.
