Abstract
Recently the present authors proposed a simple and promising scheme of linking different computer languages and discussed linking Lisp and FORTRAN in detail from the viewpoint of hybrid algebraic-numeric computation [1]. The algebraic-numeric system based on our linking scheme has been named ANS, and we implemented it preliminarily on UNIX operating system. This paper explains our linking scheme briefly and describes the ANS and its preliminary implementation. Furthermore, we discuss desirable properties of programming languages and operating systems from the viewpoint of hybrid computation.
