Abstract

Integration of database and of object-oriented environment is crucial for future information systems. This paper presents an example of a today's solution of an object-oriented system coupled with a relational database to obtain a multiuser system. The practical experiences were gained with MetaPSS, a planning system for batch processing. They cover modelling and implementation issues. The modelling has to allow a mapping of the object structure onto a database structure. For the implementation we discuss the transfer mechanisms which must support the mapping of objects to data and the transaction design which has to guarantee the data integrity.
