Abstract
This paper describes a layered control system for a binocular stereo head. It begins with a discussion of the principles of layered control and then describes the mechanical device for a binocular camera head. A device level controller is presented which permits an active vision system to command the position of the gaze point The final section describes experiments with reflexive control of focus, iris and vergence.
