Abstract

This paper decribes a technique for scene interpretation within a continuously operating active vision system, based on the use of a vocabulary of perceptual grouping procedures for detection and labeling of objects. We propose a taxonomy of complex features composed of edge lines, describe the algorithms to construct each type of grouping from simple edge lines, and analyse the complexity of this computation. To reduce the size of input data for complex groupings we introduce chaining of grouping operations.
