Abstract

A hierarchically structured real-time image sequence processing architecture is presented in which low-level parameters are adapted according to the results of the high-level scene interpretation. This adaptive parameter control ensures an optimised performance in varying operating conditions. These general concepts are applied to traffic monitoring, where long outdoor sequences have to be analysed. The algorithms have been extensively evaluated on our real-time image processing system.
