Abstract
Agent oriented techniques may have a great future. Recently, a lot of discussions reflect the “true” meaning of the notions of agents and agent oriented programming. Coming from modelling human like behaviour, there are many meaningful choices for the design of agent oriented programming languages. Thus, it is now (and may be for ever) not the time to restrict oneself by a single closed definition. We shall learn to live with ambiguities in the field of agent oriented programming, and use it as a chance to have flexible systems. The aim of this paper is to collect arguments under the special viewpoint of agent oriented programming for open systems.
