Abstract
This paper describes a digital VMEbus processing board which has been developed for real-time machine vision applications. The board uses FPGAs as programmable processing elements. The board is compatible with the Datacube video bus format and synchronisation. Programming is carried out at the circuit description level by means of a programming language developed for that purpose. Commercial applications in which this board has been used will be described. These include the location and tracking of road vehicles and high speed inspection of surfaces.
