Abstract

This paper describes work carried out as part of the EURESCOM project P515 “European Switched VC-based ATM Network Studies for Advanced Service Features”. The paper describes specifications for the automated inter-domain exchange of accounting, charging and billing information. The specifications define management functionality and information models which support the exchange of information, both between a customer Network Management System (NMS) and a Service Provider (SP) NMS and between two SP NMSs. The specifications follow the Telecommunication Management Network (TMN) framework and were developed according to the NMF ensemble concept. The paper presents an overview of the specifications, explains how they can be used to support the management of accounting in telecommunications networks and describes our experiences in using the ensemble technique.
