Geocollaboration is an emerging area of study examining how spatial information and communication technologies can be designed and adapted to support group interactions that use geographically‐referenced data and information [1]. These group interactions normally focus on tasks such as spatial data access and exploration, problem‐solving, planning, and decision‐making. In a recent classification of knowledge areas within geographic information science, geocollaboration has been interpreted as a specific implementation of group spatial decision support systems (GSDSS) which in turn forms a component of GIS and Society research [2].
