A quantitative measure related to the similarity among a biometric trait and a user template. From a pattern classification point of view, matching scores are usually related to the likelihood of a template of being from a class. In general, given a biometric sample, the higher the matching score, the higher is the probability that it belongs to the claimed user. Matching scores are produced by the matcher module of a biometric system.
