In this paper we present the advantages of ontology based assistance in teaching, particularly regarding the Greek Secondary Education System, and especially Informatics related courses. We propose the use of ontologies as a tool for better organizing the learning subject, for supporting the teaching process and enhancing the evaluation procedure. More specifically, we present a methodology for the development of teaching ontologies following the aim and goals of the Educational System, the latest theories about learning, the relevant textbooks and the students' educational level.
