Abstract
This paper aims to make a comprehensive overview of how usability research has been developed in Korea. For a more structural overview of the development, a model of triad collaboration among industry, school, and government is implemented. These three parties play a key role in enabling a rapid development of usability research in Korea. Some representative cases of usability-related studies, projects, issues, and activities from school, industry, and government are introduced. The paper finds that usability in Korea has evolved from implementing simple usability testing aimed at minor improvement to achieving innovation in comprehensive user experience design.
