Abstract

This study developed a web-based organization of a teacher’s examination materials. It aimed to answer the pressing need of teachers to efficiently organize exam materials and consequently lighten the load in checking students’ answers to examination. This would furthermore give time for teachers to focus on improving and enhancing teaching strategies. The organization of the exam is not limited to long examinations but may cover simple quizzes or final exams. The exam items will be organized per chapter which allows a teacher to specify the coverage (chapters included) during exam creation. To ensure security, simple encryption is applied to login information. The project can assist teachers in giving an online examination where the arrangement of items in a student’s exam will be different from another student’s exam. The project will automatically check the students’ answers freeing the teacher from the burden of checking a load of examination. JSP (Java Server Pages) incorporated with portable java beans were used in developing the project. Because it is web-based there is no need to install the system of the project in all the units that will be used by the teacher in organizing or checking an exam. Furthermore there is no need of installing the system in the computer units that will be used by the students in taking an exam.
