Abstract

Resorting to mathematical modelling is very often the way to explain real world phenomena under investigation. However, in some case, the phenomenon complexity is so hard that building a mathematical model is an impossible or very difficult task. In those cases, some heuristic approaches can be used to deal both with missing information and the complexity. Moreover, some lack of knowledge exists and then the phenomenon cannot be deeply described with traditional quantitative tools, then only an incomplete model can be developed.
