Abstract
This chapter describes applications that have been written using parallel functional language technology. While the majority of these applications have been produced as part of a computer science research project aimed at testing the limits of the technology, others such as those written by Ericsson in Erlang, are being used in real commercial products. Furthermore, projects such as Compaq’s Smart Kiosk application written using the dataflow inspired Stampede system [428] represent serious trial uses of the technology by commercial organisations.
