The SQL3 Server Interface

  • Chapter
Multimedia Databases in Perspective

Abstract

In some chapters of this book, as well as in other literature, multimedia applications and their requirements on information systems are analysed. These requirements have an impact on many parts of an information system. Some concern the operating system, like real time I/O, windowing systems, and support of new devices. Others are more concerned with networking (transmission speed), or storage devices (huge amounts of data to be stored).
