Abstract
Fifteen years ago, office writing was conducted to the beat of typewriters, as a pool of typists turned handwritten manuscripts into neat, printed copy. Nowadays, the sound of hammering keys is replaced by humming fans, clicking keyboards, and now and then the warning sound of an electronic bleep. The new writing tools have changed the daily rhythm of office life.
