An Algorithm for IS_A Hierarchy Derivation

  • Conference paper
OOIS’94

Abstract

This paper presents an algorithm that derives from a class an IS_A hierarchy. Each class of the obtained hierarchy represents a substructure of the initial class. We determine them by using existence dependencies. This algorithm can be used during the design of an object-oriented schema and can be integrated into an automated design process of normalized inheritance graphs.
