Definition

Time and attendance (TA) describes the field of tracking the hours that employees spend on the job and compensating them appropriately. The time and attendance calculations are nontrivial and include shift differentials, holiday pay, vacation and sick pay, flextime, minimum increments, time quantization, as well as multiple employee roles, where the pay structure is different for each role.

Time and Attendance (TA) describes the field of tracking the hours that employees spend on the job and compensating them appropriately. While such a succinct definition implies that the task is trivially simple, it is indeed not. The TA industry encompasses hundreds of competing companies focusing on one or more constituent parts of the field, such as
