Abstract

Since the weight will play a significant role on the performance of an algorithm of vertical handover of heterogeneous wireless networks, and there lacks the sufficient analysis, the selection of weight for different traffic type is addressed in this paper. The method of analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is adopted to obtain the weight, and the network selection is carried out by combining cost function, technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) and grey relational analysis (GRA). Four QoS decision attributes of delay, jitter, packet loss rate and bandwidth are considered on network selection. The scores of different networks are simulated for different traffic type under AHP weighting method. Simulation results show that the weight should vary with requirement of QoS for different traffic.
