Abstract
This paper describes the experience of Kazan National Research Technological University in teaching a foreign language and translation by means of e-tools. SmartCat is used as main software for students who are getting Minor Degree in English for Professional Communication and for Master’s Degree students in Engineering when learning a foreign language. Students are to use various software tools: communication and emailing programs, project and database management programs, PDF tools, electronic dictionaries and data mining, web tools, text editors, translation memory and terminology management tools.
