Abstract

In this paper 731 young male and 754 young female aged 20 to 29 has been investigated for body data collection with 3D interactive body scanner, and 15 major items has been extracted as analysis target. By analyzing the data using Minitab software and classifying the body type based on BMI, we found that the body types of young male are mainly A and B. Compared with young female, the young male are taller and fatter, and the difference of weight, crotch height, body height are bigger. In all the items there are only three items: hip width, waist circumference, hip circumference, thigh circumference, for which, female’s value are larger than male. The BMI shows that most of young male in China are normal, only a few people overweight or underweight. However, quite a few young female in China are underweight. Through regression analysis, we also built linear regression equations of measuring items about height, chest, waist and hip, which not only facilitate our measurement of some body parts, but also develop some new knowledge in clothes design.
