Abstract

Digitalization in the healthcare system plays a significant role in the improvement of healthcare, as well as in the planning and financing of health services. Health insurance fund’s information system is the main component of the information infrastructure that allows assessment of the impact of changes in health care for the population. The main purpose of this paper is to give a brief overview of the impact of the process of digitalization and digital transformation in the Health Insurance Fund at the quality of services. The authors opted for an exploratory study using the digitalization process implemented in the National Health Insurance Fund (Healthcare Fund) and data which were complemented by documentary analysis, including brand documents and descriptions of internal business processes. Digitalization of internal processes and digital transformation of data exchange with other government institutions are main preconditions for establishing business intelligence systems and introducing of e-services. The analysis conducted in this paper shows that the digitalization and digital transformation have a positive impact on the insured people, healthcare providers and companies when fulfilling their administrative obligations and exercising their rights from healthcare. The implemented digitalization processes and digital transformation, presented in this paper, can serve as a valuable input for the healthcare authorities in predictive analytics and making decisions related to healthcare.
