Abstract

The head-up display, a necessity for military and civil aircraft, is growing rapidly with the emergence of a variety of new markets such as automobile, sports, and infotainment. The global automotive head-up display market is expected to grow from $3.71 billion in 2020 to an annual average growth rate of 28.54%, reaching $13.02 billion and 15.6 million units in 2025. And AR HUD (augmented reality-based head-up display) has been mainly developed in the head-up display industry. The purpose of this study is to define what elements should be strategically utilized for the future car AR head-up display development by using Attrakdiff in automotive head-up display design to analyze user feedback according to the graphic style of the head-up display. To conduct the study, we selected two graphic styles of 2.5D, AR head-up display, and surveyed 500 people (250 males, 250 females) using Attrakdiff. As a result, we were able to define what elements should be strategically utilized for the future car AR head-up display development as an early stage study.
