Abstract

As Nigeria's economy continues to improve, an automated cash advance payment system can be achieved by adopting the automated Cash Advance Payment System (CAPS). The aim is to promote -good Corporate Governance, thereby increasing stakeholders' confidence in the day-to-day activities of the Bank. CAPS is a system designed to assist organizations in managing and administering cash advances to her employers and other related parties. The motivation for this work are challenges faced by the method of processing cash advance manually, which are prone to error or fraud, undue long hours in the computation of cash advance, and poor tracking of employee records. Insider abuse of cash advance and expense mismanagement has been the major contributor to this menace. This paper presents the design of a cash advance payment system that curbs non-repayment and prevents fraud. For this study, the languages of choice for implementation are PHP and MySQL. While PHP takes care of the client frontend, MySQL serves as the backend. Use case diagram was employed. The developed system stores information with ease, allows easy retrieval of cash advance details, eliminates cash advance fraud and generates reports, which can be printed from any date and year as hard copy for management review and audit purpose. The paper recommends that an automated cash advanced system can be deployed to overcome the observed and highlighted problems inherent in manual cash advanced systems.
