Color Matching Method for Foreground Based on Complex Background Image Processing: Example of Mobile Phone Interface

Abstract

Given that the color matching is only for solid colors, a color matching method is proposed when the complex background image and simple graphics filled with solid colors are superimposed. In this essay, the method is focused on the mobile phone interface. First, this essay extracts the color of the background image by extracting the weight mean, the simple arithmetic mean and the dominant hue. Then the three resulting colors replace the original colors of software icons. The visual comfort was evaluated through the experiments. The results suggest that the weight mean and the simple arithmetic mean of colors are both more visually comfortable. Besides, the two matching methods were tested for the recognition efficiency. The results show that the recognition efficiency of the simple arithmetic mean is significantly higher than the weight mean. For the application scenario of the mobile phone interface, the icon takes the simple arithmetic mean of the colors of background image to achieve the best visual comfort and the highest recognition efficiency.
