Abstract

When analyzing the significant stressors on children, nurses, and the tutor of the patient during their chemotherapy treatment, studies showed medical procedures, such as needles and nasogastric tubes, loss of control, hospital environment, relapses, and fear of death as the principal stressors that affect the well-being of children with cancer. As a result of this research, a system was designed that improved the infant’s experience and that of his/her companion. They focus on enhancing the experience before, during, and after chemotherapy treatment, providing a positive user experience through techniques and user-centered design. The methodology used in the development is based on the Double Diamond method, which allows discovering and defining the problem to obtain the development before the potential solution to the problem. The results were verified based on pilot tests of children with leukemia in colonies of scarce resources in Guadalajara, Mexico.
