Abstract
This study examines the patterns of group discourse among adolescent students from Brazil and the United States collaborating virtually on a long term robotics project. Data comes from transcripts of four video conference call “meet-ups” that took place between November 2018–May 2019. Epistemic network analysis was used to examine the patterns of utterances over time which indicated a shift from facilitator guided discussions to collaborative idea generation among students. The results identify a shift towards a consolidation of ideas consistent with convergent thinking expressed in Online Collaborative Learning Theory.
