Abstract
The research deals with non-educational communication within online distance education at a higher education institution in the Czech Republic. The main objective of the research was to discover whether the following expectations are met: (1) One main communication tool is exploited; (2) No other communication tools are needed; (3) Communication is regular and appropriately frequent; (4) Topics of non-educational communication do not primarily relate to acquiring learning content and building new knowledge; (5) No changes are required in school educational programmes if online distance education is conducted in accord with didactic principles that are generally applied at face-to-face lessons. The ex-post-facto method was applied. Data were collected via two questionnaires consisting of 10 open-answer questions each from 79 respondents: 16 class teachers and 63 subject teachers of a higher vocational school for higher medical staff in the Czech Republic. Results discovered that expectations were not fully met. Arising from the findings, didactic recommendations were proposed.
