Abstract

In the context of economy digitalization and intellectualization, the transition to an information society, approaches to teaching methods and principles of educational content formation should also change. Working ahead of the curve, the university must use “digital” technologies and create “digital” content when delivering it to students. By using the advantages of interactivity and creating the presence effect among students, new technologies can increase the interest of the students and, as a result, better master professional and digital competencies. This study aims to create a virtual laboratory as a tool for ensuring the required motivation level as well as methods for its development and use, taking into account the specifics of the training system for vehicle service engineers. A description of the developed virtual reality laboratory is given, followed by an assessment of how it influences the students’ interest in learning. It makes it possible to organize the processes of study, repetition, as well as checking the assimilation quality of the acquired knowledge, abilities and skills of working with technological equipment for balancing vehicle tires and disks. A feature of the proposed methodology is the creation of educational content during collaboration of teachers and students of different specialties. It also provides an assessment of interaction of the student with the equipment from the point of view of safety and ergonomics. The conducted surveys of students and their academic results have confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed methodology.
