Abstract
This paper presents the idea of Kindergarten students as game designers. They designed a board game based on the 14th and 15th Sustainable Development Goals. The idea emerged from an eTwinning Project called “Schools Defenders of the Earth” where they participated in activities related to the 17 SDGs framework. Based on their prior knowledge on creating board games, they designed various templates. After a brainstorming session, the appropriate board format was selected. They selected the subtopic of “animals in extinction due to climate change”, they designed rules, planned routes and decided which technologies to be included in the game. The board game was designed to incorporate QR codes in a creative way while still contributing to students’ learning, where they included the game instructions, quizzes, mini games and missions. The game idea, mechanics and design are presented in this paper.
