Abstract

By combining TAM theory and selected variables from the literature review on social network adoption, this paper aims to analyze the impact of WhatsApp on African and urban communication, more specifically on Cameroonian communication satisfaction. We developed our research model based on 12 relevant variables from the literature review. Based on a dataset of 161 WhatsApp users in Cameroon, we proceed to the data analysis process using the PLS-SEM method with the SmartPLS and XLSTAT software. This study shows that Attitude, Intention to Use, Perceived Usefulness, Perceived Ease of Use, Perceived Security, Perceived Connectivity, Perceived Self-Efficacy, Perceived Enjoyment, Content, and Format have a significant impact on WhatsApp users’ satisfaction. From these results, we can conclude that the WhatsApp application has revolutionized how Cameroonians interact with each other and are satisfied with its services and use.
