Abstract

Although extensive research has been carried out on big data analytics applications in different areas, a gap is identified in the literature regarding its application in the context of circular economy. Therefore, this article presents a literature review regarding the applicability of big data analytics in circular business models. In this context, the research was focused on the fashion industry, one of the main industries that face social and environmental challenges related to sustainability, and that it is identifying how to embrace circularity in their strategies and value creation. From the literature review, the functionalities, processes, barriers, and data sources in this area are described in a proposed taxonomy. From this study, it is expected to provide further insights and support for companies in the process of transitioning to circular economy, by clarifying how circular business models can be improved from big data analytics.
