An Analysis of Communication Balance in Online Consensus-Building Game

Abstract

In this study, we conducted an online consensus-building experiment using a game with a correct answer, aiming at proposing the mechanism of consensus-building. Specifically, we conducted an online experiment with 40 participants in 10 groups using the NASA game in which participants build consensus on the order of 15 items. Using the results, the communication balance was analyzed. The results of the analysis using the variation in communication balance indicated that a medium variation in communication balance might be better as a relationship between the variation in communication balance of the number of remarks, the final error score, and the error score change.
