Abstract

For the introduction of audio versions of the Common Test for University Admissions in Japan, this study proposes a method to evaluate the feasibility of audio versions of tests with non-disabled students by simulating the answering process of dyslexic students. Since the number of dyslexic students with enough learning achievement levels is still small in Japan, the evaluation of the feasibility has to be done by recruiting non-disabled students as experimental participants. In order to put non-disabled students in the print-disabled situation, we replace all characters of test booklets with hard-to-read ones using vertex-reduced glyphs. As a result of a pilot evaluation of the audio version with hard-to-read test booklets, they seem to be usable for the evaluation of the feasibility of audio versions of the Common Test for University Admissions.
