Abstract
Artificial intelligence is a phenomenon that influences every aspect of our life. AI applications already started to change the methods in different disciplines. Architecture is one of the disciplines that is highly affected by the developments of AI technologies. With the UAE heading to employ the new technology to lead the country and region development, it is important to explore and develop the application of AI in the strategic disciplines at the country in which the built environment is essential. This study aims to explore and develop the application of AI in UAE architecture by developing an intelligent system that can generate an optimum parametric structure as a retrofit strategy of a mid-rise residential building in downtown Abu Dhabi. A mixed qualitative, quantitative, and experimental method will be applied on the different stages of this study, The study is divided into four stages: starts with exploring AI progress in architecture, then AI Application in Architecture in UAE at this stage the system will develop, Grasshopper software will be used to develop the system, after that Building stock analysis to get the parameters, and finally apply the system on 3 chosen case study. The results for the first two stages came out and the other tow stages are still in progress. However we get primary results for the later mentioned.
