Abstract
This paper describes a persona-based investigation of travel behaviors of residential people. This research aims to develop mobility services based on real travel behaviors and the needs of the community residents. We interviewed the two targets: the municipality and the company that implements new mobility services in society, and the residents that use the new mobility services in the region. First, the interviews were conducted to identify the persona describing the users intended by the municipality and the company (“Intended Persona”). Second, the persona representing residents was developed based on the interviews of the residents (“Actual Persona”), and it was used to understand actual movements in the target region. Finally, we investigated the differences between the “Intended Persona” and the “Actual Persona” that will identify the users’ expectations and requirements for new mobility services. The results suggest several gaps between the “Intended Persona” and “Actual Persona”, including shopping needs in stores outside the residential area, lifestyle of living only within the town, and resident relationships.
