Abstract

Today’s technological, economic and labour market changes also have an impact on Hungarian vocational training. The Vocational Training 4.0 strategy determines the system-wide renewal and further development of vocational training and adult education. At the same time, innovation poses a huge challenge for teachers in vocational training. Vocational teacher education, including engineering teacher education, also faces these challenges, as it is this area that prepares trainee teachers for working in vocational training. The paper presents the impact of Industry 4.0 on vocational training in Hungary and addresses the question of how vocational teachers can prepare for the changes in this field. Based on the results of a questionnaire survey conducted among engineering teacher students, it draws attention to the need for methodological renewal. It presents the possibilities of content and methodological development of engineering teacher education through examples.
