Abstract

Since 2016, eight Austrian Higher Colleges for Engineering (HTL - Higher Technical College) have completed the certification „Competence Center Entrepreneurship in Engineering Education“ in Austria. This certification is carried out by IGIP-Austria, the federal working group EEE (Entrepreneurship in Engineering Education) of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, the Graz University of Technology and since 2022 also the University of Applied Science Technicum Vienna. In upper secondary education, in the area of vocational education and training colleges entrepreneurship education is currently one of the most attractive fields beside the core education fields. Although entrepreneurship is an overarching topic in Vocational Education and Training (VET) Education, a homogeneous system of certification is still missing. Therefore the EEE certification process, which addresses is more or less the higher colleges for engineering differs significantly in a few points from other existing entrepreneurship certification programs, ie. The program for Colleges of Business Administration.

A questionnaire for the certified Colleges for Engineering locations was developed to evaluate the criteria and to start a discussion process for the further development of the criteria. The results of this survey are presented in this paper and initial conclusions are drawn by the authors.

Notes

  1. 1.

Since the questionnaire was answered by teachers, the answers to areas 5.8 to 5.10 and 5.12 are to be understood as reflecting the teachers' assessment of the students' perceptions.
