Abstract

This study uses the AHP technique to assess and choose the best facility layout based on technical practices, work environment, and ergonomics factors. This study will be beneficial in determining ways to improve operational performance in light of facility layout changes. We initially developed six logical layouts based on the field survey, which were approved by all shop floor staff, managers, and postal administrations to be evaluated under production performance layout schemes. Six alternative layouts, three performance criteria, and 13 sub-criteria were taken into consideration in this Facility Layout Design (FLD) problem. The analysis of the FLD in shop floor postal layouts yielded amazing results. This empirical investigation was conducted in India's southernmost National Sorting Hub (NSH) Mysore, Karnataka.
