Abstract
The ongoing development and evolution of the Internet highlighted the limitations of its architecture and the need for a new design. Simultaneously, as a result of the development of new applications, new requirements emerged, signaling to the research community that fundamental modifications to the Internet paradigm were required. In this scenario, NDN (Named Data Networks) and SDN (Software-Defined Networks) stand out as two of the key proposals for the future Internet. Nonetheless, NDN’s effective data transport and SDN’s adaptable management structure look to function well together to address the current problems with Internet design.
In this paper, we introduce Centralized Proactive caching based on Software defined network “CPC-SDN”, a novel NDN-based cache solution controlled by an OpenFlow controller. CPC-SDN allows for clean state integration between NDN and SDN as well as proactive caching techniques depend on the frequency of contents that are entirely controlled by the controller.
