Abstract

There is a lack of cache management in moving object databases which is essentially important for system analysis. In addition, users focus on queries in real scenarios, but cache replacement strategy is not customized. To address these issues, we develop a cache management tool called MOCache for moving object databases. The tool consists of three components: data partition, cache strategy improvement and cache status monitoring. First, we partition moving objects and 3D bbox to establish mapping relationships between sub trips and cells. Then, we propose a cache elimination strategy based on cell heat for the purpose of exploiting spatio-temporal attributes. Finally, the tool visualizes cache status and automatically generates warm-up commands. Demonstration shows that the tool achieves hit ratio to 76.56% and greatly reduces execution time compared with alternative approaches, and helps researchers evaluate factors affecting database cache.
